I feel shallow, my words faltering, distorted by the faintest breeze. I look inward, into the wellspring of myself, and find only echoes—self-reflections weakened by the shadows of others climbing higher, stronger, more determined. There is no refuge outward, no hand to hold in the swirling crowd. Instead, I retreat into the separateness that defines me, wrapping myself in a cocoon spun from self-doubt and deprecation.
Outside, the chill seeps in, a reminder of the world’s relentless order. The way of things: those who strive to be better crush those unwilling—or unable—to fight. Hope is trampled underfoot, creation discarded as a casualty of ambition. And I wonder, as I curl inward, whether peace exists anywhere but in the final stillness of death or the infinite quiet of separation.
Yet, even in retreat, a flicker of something more stirs. A question, perhaps, or a challenge: Is this all there is? Can the individual, burdened by the weight of the world, truly harmonize with the vibrant energy of the universe?
The thought persists, insistent, like the steady pulse of life beneath the chaos. Perhaps this separateness is not a curse but a pause—a space where truth waits to emerge. Perhaps peace is not found in surrender but in the courage to listen to the silence within, to weave harmony from the dissonance.
The world may stomp, ambitions may rise like storms, but the well within remains. It is here, in the depths of self-reflection, that I glimpse the possibility of creation—not as a triumph over others, but as a resonance with something larger, something eternal.
